What is the difference between a gun cabinet and a safe?

Gun cabinets and safes have different levels of protection against burglary. Cabinets have thinner walls and simpler locks and are not classified by burglary resistance levels. They can be used in guarded premises with surveillance and alarms, but a burglar can easily break the lock or cut through the walls of the cabinet. Only a safe can provide truly reliable protection for weapons and ammunition.

Recommendations for choosing a gun safe

  • Determine the installation location: The law imposes strict requirements on the room where the weapons will be stored. Study these requirements and choose a place where the safe can be securely anchored to the floor or wall, protecting it from theft.
  • Calculate your arsenal: The AIKO and VALBERG lines offer models for pistols, shotguns, carbines, and rifles up to 1410 mm in length, with capacities from 1 to 9 barrels. Consider the internal height without the ammunition compartment when choosing a safe.
  • Safe contents: Some models come with pre-installed racks for long-barreled weapons, while others require them to be purchased separately. If you plan to expand your collection, choose a safe with extra space.
  • Lock selection: Both key and electronic combination locks are equally reliable. For a home with children, a digital lock is preferred because a key can be found, but a code is harder to guess. Maximum security is provided by safes with double key locks or dual electronic-key locks.
  • Design: The VALBERG line includes utilitarian models and office safes with lacquer finishes, velvet or eco-leather interiors, and natural wood veneers. These safes provide reliable protection and can serve as a piece of art in your interior.

Most gun safes and cabinets are equipped with a special compartment — a tray. The tray is used for storing ammunition but can also be used for powder, knives, and accessories. This is not only convenient but also ensures compliance with the rules of separate storage of weapons and ammunition, often checked by the police.
